20th New Horizons Festival

So, New Horizons, international film festival has been on for the last 10 days. We could enjoy highlights from all over the world - from debutants to undisputed film masters. The festival gives an opportunity to take a closer look at the most interesting places on the cinematic map of the world and to discover films which are difficult to be found in regular distribution. Today, I'm going to share with you one of the film I find interesting to see this or the following year.

FAUNA, Nicolás Pereda

Is this a movie about a casual visit to the parents? Not really. Apart from the main plot concerning on this weird family, there is another one that is introduced in an unusual way. The film starts with the siblings visiting their parents, where the presence of the daughter's boyfriend causes an excitement since he appeared in a TV series. He's trying to buy cigarettes and because there's no in the store, he's trying to bargain with an old guy who turns out to be girlfriend's father. They get to know each other afterwards which doesn't really change anything in this horrible and awkward situation. Paradox follows paradox until the point where Fauna's brother read a book. And this book leads us to another reality in which actors remain the same but the plot is completely different. The director turns a realistic story into something surreal which is innovative. So... I could go on, but my point is when the movie is available online, go (to the website, for now...) and suport your favorite, local cinema. It's gonna be a win-win situation!
