What's going on lately?

The whaler boy ,  Wielorybnik  or  Kitoboy  is a Russian film directed by  Philipp Yuryev. Leshka, 15-year-old boy lives in an isolated village on the Bering Strait, located between Chukotka and Alaska, which divides Russia from America. Like most of the men in his village, he is a whale hunter who leads a very calm life at the end of the world. With the recent arrival of the internet in the village of Leshka, the predominantly male population now gathers every night to watch gorgeous girls thousands of miles away dancing on an erotic webcam site. For most guys, it's just a fun, but Leshka takes it all very seriously.The appearance of an unusual girl on a webcam site fascinates him. He's determined to learn her language and see her in real life even though she doesn't know about his existence. This is how his dangerous journey begins...

Night of the Rings is another movie presented at New Horizons Festival that I want to talk about. La Nuit des Rois has clearly nothing to do with Twelfth Night, Or What You Will written by Shakespeare yet the title was translated into French as La Nuit des rois, ou Ce que vous voudrez ;) Anyways, the film is truly exceptional. It's a drama film, directed by Philippe Lacôte and released our favorite 2020. It's a co-production of companies from France, Côte d'Ivoire, Canada and Senegal. T his Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection is the second film I'm going to talk about. It was directed and written by  Mosotho ( The Sotho people, or Basotho, are a Bantu ethnic group of Southern Africa who speak Sesotho) Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese born in 1980, Hlotse, Lesotho. He’s is a self-taught filmmaker. As a co-creator of Barefoot Cinema and Mokoari collective, he promotes radical auteur cinema as well as the achievements of Third Cinema (Third Cinema is a Latin American film movement that started in the 1960s–70s which decries neocolonialism, the capitalist system, and the Hollywood model of cinema as mere entertainment to make money [1] ). Seconds become minutes, minutes become hours, and hours become “Days,” and I'm lost in it since it's so difficult to keep up with the pace of adding posts. "Days" (2020) is one of a kind. It is vain to search for subtitles. In fact, this Thai drama is devoid of them. It features little dialogue, but it doesn't matter anymore. "Days",  directed by  Tsai Ming-liang ,  is about the touch. How much do we need it? Kang, one of two heroes, leaves the huge house in the village and goes to town in search of some kind of relief. Non, on the other hand, lives in a small apartment in the city. They meet. Oops, spoiler. Easy, this film is not about a mysterious, intricate plot. It's about loneliness, calm and tentative human connection. How this meeting would affect them? If you're a fan of slow cinema, go, and watch it. It's worth it.

So, New Horizons, international film festival has been on for the last 10 days. We could enjoy highlights  from all over the world - from debutants to undisputed film masters. The festival gives an opportunity to take a closer look at the most interesting places on the cinematic map of the world and to discover films which are difficult to be found in regular distribution. Today, I'm going to share with you one of the film I find interesting to see this or the following year.   FAUNA,  Nicolás Pereda Is this a movie about a casual visit to the parents?
